Easy Weekly Gym Hack

I find Gym difficult to teach because we want to see some improvement in the student’s endurance and physical ability throughout the year.

One way I do this is starting in September or your first month of school getting the students to run 3 laps of the gymnasium. The next month they run 4, and the next 5, and on until the last month of school, they are able to run 10-12 laps.

Another way that I see progress in my student’s endurance and physical ability is through Gym Circuits.

I print out these Gym Goal Booklets. Just print them double-sided and flip them on the short side. Fold the 2 pages in half (hamburger fold) and staple them. I put them in a bin, get my students to bring down a pencil and we do an initial assessment.

Then weekly, we do ours on Workout Wednesday as my students have deemed it we do circuits around the gym. They practice and we do not record it in the books. Then in a month or two we bring the books down and record how well we have done. They should be seeing an improvement. If not, maybe they need to think about their effort.

What exercises would you include and let me know how it is going!
